I'm trying to buy the smallest mini bluetooth keyboard that I can pair with my iphone4. I bought the Think Geeks TK421 iphone case with flipout keyboard but I returned it because the keyboard would stop working after not using it for a few minutes or when I turned off the iphone and I would then have to pair it again. I still want a keyboard for my iphone that I can use anywhere with out standing out.
Don't know if this is the smallest, but it folds.
Check it out:
Freedom i-Connex Mini Bluetooth Keyboard for Apple iPhone/iPad and Other Devices
$49.99 $44.17
That text is from Amazon because I'm too lazy to create the link ... just copied it from my list of gear I'm getting with tax refund money this year, well with the dad portion of it ... lol
there is also an ibuddy keyboard case as well u may want to google since i can't remember much more about it.
i'm considering getting a blutooth keyboard too. but i want to get a very good keyboard that is functional, portable and is tactile so i can type easier. Would anyone suggest 1 where i can attach to the iphone?
The Boxwave Keyboard Buddy is the case someone mentioned above. I had it and it's beyond awesome. The keyboard slides out of the case and resembles qwerty keyboards I've seen on other smartphones. The keys are small but easy to find, the little dots on the F and J help a lot. There also isn't a dedicated number row, numbers and symbols are created by pressing the function key and one of the letters. If that's something that might be an issue for you this might not be your ideal keyboard. It took me a while to figure out but now I don't have any problems typing. The only major issues I have experienced are with the case itself and the charging of the battery. The case snaps onto the back of the IPhone and is almost impossible to get off. If you have a dock such as the IHome, you can't slip your IPhone into it while the Keyboard Buddy is attached. I'd just gotten my IHome shortly before the case arrived, so this discovery was somewhat annoying. The battery level is indicated by a light on the keyboard, so if you have no vision or light perception you wouldn't be able to tell when it's running low. Also the only way I've found to charge the keyboard is by plugging it into my laptop via the included USB cable. This is fine when I'm close to home, but I'll be attending the ACB convention in Reno in two weeks and don't plan to bring my laptop with me. Not sure how I'll charge the keyboard there if the need arises. Other than that, the Keyboard Buddy is definitely worth its $79 price tag.
Okay, just got an Iphone 4, and I think the onscreen keyboard really sucks! I feel like kind of a wuss, but I just find it really annoying. Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I'll check out the above mentioned IConnex and IBuddy keyboards. the case that's hard to remove doesn't appeal to me that much. Any other options? I'd like a combination case/ keyboard. When I'm not typing, is it a good idea to have blue tooth turned off? Do I need to turn it on whenever I type? I'm really new to the Iphone. The folding keyboard sounds cool as well. May have to check that one out. Any other suggestions would be great.
I'm seriously considering a keyboard as well; typing on the onscreen keyboard is pretty good but it is pretty slow, or it can be, especially for writing long strings of text. I rather like the sound of one Kerry mentioned above; might def look into it. :)
i like the on screen. keyboard. it works fine. yay:
is there a way to turn auto-predict off? It really confuses me. Next, how do I type using the onscreen keyboard?. Do I need to double tap a letter to select it? How do I position my hands so I'm not pressing lots of unwanted letters? Any typing hints? Are there any special voiceover instructions if I do end up getting an external keyboard? Will I need to set up blue tooth each time I turn the keyboard on?
Hi,
This may be a bit bulky for some people, but the apple bluetooth keyboards are great. I love being able to use a fulll sized keyboard with my phone.
I bought a Deragadget mini bluetooth keyboard off Amazon for about £12. It worked for a time, but then the connect button refused to work and the plastic backing kept coming off. So, you have to be careful with some of these cheap keyboards. I now have the official Apple keyboard, and I like it. Sure it's big, but at least it won't fall apart.
How big is an Apple Blue Tooth keyboard. Are we talking the size of a pc keyboard? So, do I need to program voice over to use it, and do I need to set up blue tooth each time I turn the keyboard on?
Thanks.
BLW, the Apple keyboard is not as big as your standard PC keyboard. But it's not a mini, either. For example, you can't fit it into your purse or something. You have to carry it, or if you use a backpack or something, it would go in there.
That's what I have. I'm considering a mini keyboard, to take places with me. But when I'm at home, I operate my phone primarily with my Apple bluetooth keyboard. It's very quiet and comfortable to type on.
No, you don't have to change voice-over to use it. You do have to turn bluetooth on, but after the first time you pair the keyboard, your phone remembers it.
Thanks for the mini keyboard recommendations. I was going to post something like this before I found this topic. I'll go look into some of these.
Thanks for that info. I'll look into one of those mini ones as well. I'm thinking I'll probably use my phone internet a lot on the go. Plus, I think it'd be easier to text with a mini keyboard. I am getting used to the onscreen keyboard, but I really like my tactile qwerty keyboard. I find the onscreen too easy to screw up on.
I'm still looking for the smallest mini bluetooth keyboard. I bought one that cost me like $12 from amazon but it died so I got my money back and I haven't found a small one like it since. The apple keyboard is to big for me and I don't like the buddy case because I want the keyboard with numbers. I don't like the folding keyboards because I also find them to be to big.
Is there a way I can open a webpage while using the net on Iphone? Can I just choose a page, or do I need a special app for each site? If I can just open up a site, how do I do that. I'm used to control O, any special Iphone internet commands?
I switched my onscreen keyboard to touch and lift style typing.
My keyboard suggestion, though it is bigger thanmini, is the apple BT keyboard because it is durable and rugged.
Fits great in my synch sack where my cane lives when out with mom shopping or something.
Near the top of your screen is the address bar when you are in Safari. Open Safari from the bottom of your home screen, it's usually on the dock.
It's a different kind of web browsing experience, but I don't know a way for you to get right to the URL using a keyboard. Someone else who knows more keyboard shortcuts may know this.
I just got a verbatim folding keyboard. It's a bit bigger than pocket size when folded, and it's very comfortable to type on. It's got the dots on the f and j keys if you like those. Having only had it for a day or so, I'd say it's absolutely awesome. What I would like to know, is where i might find some keyboard shortcuts. How, for example, can you click on an item using the keyboard? Can you control the th rotor? Any links or info you guys have would be much appreciated. For anyone looking at a keyboard, I'd highly recommend getting one.
Thanks
Zach
Yes, here is a comprehensive listing:

I got it off Twitter last year. I keep saying I'll swear off Twitter for good, and then some useful gem comes along I would not otherwise have any way of finding.
Leo, This list was extremely helpful.
I'm still loving my bluetooth keyboard.
Thanks
